All My Children alum Alicia Minshew on a return to soaps, meeting Sarah Michelle Gellar

Will soaps fans soon be seeing Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall Hart, All My Children) on another daytime drama? The actress opens up about her future plans and recalls meeting Kendall's original portrayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The television landscape just hasn't been the same since fiery All My Children character Kendall Hart had her passion and intensity extinguished by the soap's cancellation in 2013. Everyone's been chomping at the bit to get her back on-screen, but unless the ABC soap opera miraculously gets a reboot, that is unlikely to happen. However, might soap fans get a taste of Kendall via her former portrayer, Alicia Minshew, joining another soap?

The actress recently answered that very question, and it doesn't look promising. "I'm really hunkered down in New York City now. My life is here, and my daughter is in school. If the soaps were here in New York City it'd be a lot easier for me, but right now they're in LA -- so for me to fly back and forth is not something I'm comfortable with doing," she reveals to Soaps. "But as my daughter gets older, I might be. The role would have to be a kick ass one, and it would have to work out with my family. But right now I'm where I need to be in my life."

Fortunately, fans can still see the actress on-screen via her new online series, Quarantine, which follows the cast of a fictional soap opera dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. The series began airing on April 19 on YouTube and stars other familiar faces like Minshew's former AMC castmate, Jennifer Bassey (ex-Marian Colby; ex-Quinn Danvers, General Hospital).

As for her AMC days, Minshew says that she has nothing but good memories from the decade she played Kendall -- beginning with the way the character's original portrayer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, welcomed her to the role.

"When I started on the show she sent me a beautiful basket and bouquet of flowers and treats with a note saying, 'Congratulations on your role; it's a hard role but a fun role to play -- you'll do great.' It was a lovely gesture," Minshew recalls. "And years later she came to visit Eva La Rue (ex-Maria Santos; ex-Celeste Rosales, The Young and the Restless) on the show, and I met her in the dressing rooms. It was kind of her to give that to me, and honor and respect me. Class act!
